Board Team Facilitation
Is your executive team aligned?
New and established executive-level teams face as many, if not more, challenges than your teams in other parts of your organisation. They are expected to work seamlessly given that they have experience on their side and they have been entrusted with leading your business.
However, if you scratch just below the surface of many boardrooms you will find one of a number of issues that may be hindering board-table cohesion, alignment and performance. Left alone the impact on decision-making and morale can be significant.
Some areas in which executive-level facilitation can be particularly helpful include:
- re-visiting and re-developing a strategy
- re-aligning around a project focus
- kick-starting a new team
- integrating new team members
- consolidating a smaller team
- revealing the hidden agendas or personality conflicts that stop the team from performing at its peak
- overcoming issues of trust around the board-table
When developing a programme for your executive team we carefully select our expert facilitators based on a combination of facilitation skills and commercial experience as well as their personal style. Using an independent facilitator gives the leader of your team the space to become a fully-engaged participant.
Although we may begin with an agreed and clearly defined outcome in mind, we also work dynamically with whatever occurs at the time. We combine traditional facilitation with a coaching approach to create a trusted, open space where participants can positively engage. Participants are encouraged to have those difficult or overdue conversations, and work towards understanding and alignment. They also have the opportunity to air potential conflicts in a safe environment.
Eluminas board team facilitation combines the initial evaluation to deepen learning, with actions and accountability that take the team forward in a cohesive way.
The rest of the week was fine and I think the work we did helped us prepare for that in a very constructive way.
